Bathroom drains
Slow shower or tub drain?
Bathroom drains commonly collect hair, soap residue, and personal-care products. A slow drain can narrow gradually before water stops moving.
- Shower drains slowly
- Bathtub drain is slow or stopped
- Bathroom sink drains slowly
- Standing water around the shower drain
One bathroom fixture or a larger drain problem?
If one shower, tub, or sink is slow while the rest of the house drains normally, the restriction may be close to that fixture or its branch drain. If several fixtures are backing up together, the problem may be farther down a shared drain or main line.
If wastewater rises in a bathtub or shower when a toilet is flushed or another fixture is used, stop adding water. That pattern can indicate a larger drain or sewer-line restriction rather than an isolated shower clog.
